Ecosafe Group has been shortlisted alongside Aster Group in the Collaboration of the Year - South category at the 2026 Unlock Net Zero Awards, recognising the strength of a partnership aimed at delivering damp and mould remediation alongside sustainable retrofit works across Aster’s social housing portfolio.

Working together through the CHIC Healthy Homes Framework, Ecosafe and Aster have developed a model that goes beyond treating the symptoms of damp and mould. By identifying root causes such as failed insulation, poor ventilation and wider property defects, the partnership has created a more sustainable approach that combines immediate response with long-term property improvement.

Through this work, Ecosafe has supported Aster with damp and mould surveys, rapid response works, first-cleans, remedial works, and retrofit improvements including insulation and ventilation upgrades. This has helped residents benefit from warmer, easier-to-heat homes while also supporting Aster’s wider sustainability and net zero ambitions.

In 2025 alone, the partnership delivered more than 2,500 jobs, while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and a strong focus on resident communication, safeguarding and person-centred service. The work has shown how collaboration can create stronger outcomes not only for compliance and resident safety, but also for energy performance and long-term sustainability.

Sabrina Wisniewska, Contracts Manager at Ecosafe Group, said:

“This shortlist is a brilliant recognition of the partnership we have built with Aster Group. From day one, this has been about more than resolving damp and mould issues. It has been about working together to get to the root cause, improve homes in a more sustainable way, and make a real difference for residents. We are proud to see that work recognised on a national stage.”

Mike Scourfield, D.M.C Operations Manager at Aster Group, said:

“Being shortlisted in these awards reflects the strength of our partnership with Ecosafe and our shared focus on delivering lasting change. By combining expertise, we’re moving beyond reactive repairs to tackle the underlying causes of damp and mould, creating a more sustainable and effective approach that benefits both our customers and our homes for the long term. This collaboration is helping us create healthier homes while supporting our wider sustainability goals.”

The Unlock Net Zero Awards celebrate the individuals, teams, partnerships, projects and organisations that are helping to accelerate the transition to net zero across the built environment. The awards recognise practical action, innovation and collaboration that are making a real difference in reducing carbon, improving energy efficiency and creating more sustainable homes and places.

The shortlist reflects the shared commitment of Ecosafe and Aster in delivering practical solutions that link resident health, housing quality and sustainability. By combining technical expertise, strong communication and a shared focus on outcomes, both organisations have shown how collaborative working can help create better homes and a lower-carbon future.

The winners of the 2026 Unlock Net Zero Awards will be announced at Manchester Central on 23 June.
