– Your boiler must be a minimum of 5 years old (and not a condensing type). – Be in receipt of certain income-related benefits, g. tax credits, ESA, JSA or income support. – Own your own home, or be a tenant.

Why are the government offering free boiler grants?
This really is a scheme worth taking advantage of if you are eligible, as the government’s current standards for energy-reduction are working in your favour. While we are still part of the EU, the government is having to strive to meet very stringent energy objectives. ECO is designed to go a long way towards helping us meet those objectives.
You’re also already kind of paying for it, through your energy bills. ECO is being made possible by the Big Six energy suppliers. At the moment, a small amount of every utility bill you pay is going towards the ECO Scheme, known as the Green Tax. In return, the Big Six energy suppliers are being required to fund boiler replacement services, as well as offering improvements such as insulation to low-income homes and those who are most vulnerable.
How can I find out if I’m eligible for a boiler grant?
