Ecosafe Group has secured a five-year contract with Southampton City Council to deliver the servicing, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across the region. The contract has been awarded following a mini competition under the CHIC (Communities and Housing Investment Consortium) Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Framework.
Southampton City Council sought to appoint a contractor to undertake comprehensive inspection, cleaning, and compliance checks of installed solar PV systems across a variety of property types, including domestic, corporate, and commercial premises, as part of the Council’s broader commitment to renewable energy and sustainability.
As part of the contract, Ecosafe Group will inspect the solar arrays to ensure they meet the latest safety and performance compliance standards. Any systems identified as underperforming or requiring remedial work will be fully assessed, with detailed reports and corrective actions undertaken by Ecosafe’s specialist electrical team.
In addition to the core delivery of maintenance works, Ecosafe Group will contribute significant social value through the project. This includes creating employment opportunities for local people and supporting unemployed individuals through structured mentoring programmes. These initiatives align with both organisations shared goal of skills development, social inclusion, and economic growth within the Southampton region.

Nathan Kellaway, Electrical Contracts Manager at Ecosafe Group, said: “Being appointed to deliver the solar PV maintenance contract for Southampton City Council is an excellent achievement for our electrical division. Our role is to ensure each system is safe, clean, efficient, and performing as it should. Where issues are identified, our team will act promptly to deliver the necessary remedial work or reporting to bring systems back to the required standard. We’re also proud that this contract allows us to give back by investing in the local community through employment and mentoring opportunities.”
James Bate, Risk & Compliance Team Manager, at Southampton City Council added: “Southampton City Council is pleased to be working in collaboration with Ecosafe Group to support our shared ambition of creating a greener, more sustainable city. This partnership strengthens our commitment to improving energy efficiency across our communities, reducing carbon emissions, and investing in long-term environmental resilience. By working together, we are ensuring that local residents benefit from cleaner, safer, and more energy-efficient homes while contributing to Southampton’s wider goal of becoming a net-zero city.”
Ecosafe Group provides a full range of electrical, building, and compliance services to local authorities, housing associations, and public sector organisations. Through its position on frameworks such as CHIC’s M&E agreement, the company continues to expand its work supporting decarbonisation and long-term community energy efficiency programmes.
